Why RGB+CCT Linear Pendant Lighting Is Changing Modern Interiors
For years, most linear pendant lights available in Australia have been pretty limited when it comes to flexibility. In most cases, you’re either locked into a single colour temperature, or there’s a small dip switch hidden inside the fitting that lets the electrician choose between 3000K, 4000K or 6000K during install.
Once that choice is made, that’s generally it unless the fitting is pulled apart again later. The problem is that modern spaces are no longer being used the same way all day long. Kitchens become entertaining areas, dining spaces become work zones, and we all want more control over the overall feel of the room. That’s where newer RGB+CCT systems like the Luma Linear Pendant are changing things up.
Instead of being stuck with one fixed lighting style, you can adjust from warm ambient lighting through to crisp functional white light, or even full RGB scenes depending on the mood, occasion, or application.

The Problem With Traditional Linear Pendant Lighting
The problem with traditional linear lighting is that it usually only offers a single colour temperature, limiting the overall feel of the space.
While functional lighting is important, modern homes are also being designed around atmosphere, entertaining, and creating a more enjoyable environment, especially at night where playful ambient lighting can completely change the mood of a room.
This is where RGB+CW lighting starts to make far more sense.
What Is RGB+CCT Lighting?
RGB+CCT lighting combines full RGB colour control with adjustable warm, cool and daylight in a single fitting. This allows the pendant to produce everything from playful feature colours through to practical everyday lighting depending on the mood or application.
Independent RGB saturation channel tuning gives greater control over colour scenes, while the CCT function allows the white light output to be adjusted from a warm ambient glow through to a crisp daylight-style white for more functional spaces.
Introducing The Luma Series
Introducing the Luma Linear Pendant series, a modern linear lighting range designed for spaces wanting more than just basic overhead lighting.
Combining architectural styling with RGB+CCT smart lighting technology, the Luma series has been created to suit everything from functional daytime lighting through to relaxed ambient lighting at night.
The range is available in black or white as standard, with custom finishes also available through Dulux Powders for projects wanting a more personalised look.
To suit different kitchen islands, dining areas, and commercial spaces, the series is offered in 1800mm, 2000mm, 2400mm, and 3000mm lengths.
Luma Control Options
The Luma Linear Pendant has been designed to work with a few different control options depending on how simple or advanced you want the setup to be.
Whether you just want an easy remote to adjust brightness and colours, or a fully connected smart lighting system throughout the home, the Luma series gives you the flexibility to choose what suits your space best. The three main control options currently available are Remote Control, Zigbee Smart Control, and Casambi Smart Control.
Remote Control Option
Remote control offers a simple and straightforward way to adjust the Luma pendant without needing apps or complicated setup.
Brightness, colour temperature, RGB colours, and lighting scenes can all be changed quickly depending on the mood or time of day, making it a practical option.
Each remote can control either 4 or 8 seperate zones, making multiple lights controlled from a single point. Perfect for gyms, fitness/wellness studios or office spaces. f
Zigbee Smart Control
Zigbee is a widely used smart home wifi (2.5Ghz) communication protocol, which means the lighting can communicate with other compatible smart devices that also use Zigbee technology, even across different brands. This allows the Luma Linear Pendant to become part of a larger connected smart home system rather than operating as a standalone fitting.
Depending on the hub and ecosystem being used, Zigbee compatibility can allow integration with products such as smart switches, motion sensors, wireless scene controllers, voice assistants, smart blinds, and additional lighting throughout the home.
Popular Zigbee-based ecosystems and compatible platforms include Philips Hue, Samsung SmartThings, Amazon Alexa, Tuya smart life and various Zigbee-enabled home automation systems.
Casambi BLE Control
Casambi allows the fitting to become far more than just a standard light source. Using Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) mesh technology, the pendant can be wirelessly controlled from a phone or tablet with the ability to adjust brightness, colour temperature, RGB colours, and custom lighting scenes depending on the environment or time of day.
During the day, the pendant can operate as crisp functional task lighting over a kitchen island or workspace, while at night it can transition into softer warm ambient lighting or fully customised RGB scenes for entertaining. Multiple fittings can also be grouped together and synchronised throughout the space, allowing larger open-plan homes, bars, gyms, or commercial environments to maintain a consistent lighting atmosphere.
Because Casambi does not rely on traditional Wi-Fi infrastructure, the system also avoids placing additional load on the home network while providing a more refined architectural lighting control experience.
FInal Thoughts
Traditional linear pendants still do the job, but they can feel fairly limited once the space starts evolving around them. Modern homes are now being used in far more flexible ways, with kitchen islands, dining areas, and entertaining spaces all shifting throughout the day depending on how the space is being used.
RGB+CCT lighting gives homeowners far greater control after installation, allowing the atmosphere of the room to change from practical task lighting through to warm ambient lighting or playful RGB scenes when entertaining.
The Luma Linear Pendant has been designed around this more modern approach to lighting, combining architectural styling with flexible smart lighting control. The modular design also makes future servicing, upgrades, driver replacements, and warranty support far easier compared to many fully sealed integrated pendants currently on the market, helping the fitting remain more serviceable long term.
